Faculty support is vital in the fellowship application process. From mentoring students through coursework, research, and other opportunities to composing letters of recommendation, students cannot be successful without you!
About the Fellowship Process
The Undergraduate Fellowship Office (UFO) advises and assists all qualified undergraduate students interested in applying for national scholarships and fellowships. Faculty and academic department administrations play an important role in identifying Ohio State’s most competitive undergraduate students for these prestigious awards.
Award Types: Campus Nomination and Direct Apply
For fellowships that require a Campus Nomination, the Undergraduate Fellowship Offices uses an internal application process. UFO staff and faculty reviewers select campus nominees, who then work with staff on their materials to ensure competitive applications. Each of the awards listed in this document requires a campus nomination.
Direct Apply awards do not require campus nominations, and therefore students can submit on their own. Students are encouraged to work with faculty mentors and UFO staff to ensure competitive applications, but they are not required to do so.
